In Germany and its neighbouring European countries, several so-called ‘zero and energy buildings’ have already been built. However, most of these buildings are not energy self-sufficient and the question arises as to whether an energy self-sufficient building is even possible and desirable from an architectural point of view.
This seminar will use a designed office building to analyse the energy and architectural possibilities and limitations of energy-self-sufficient office buildings and how these influence each other. The aim of the seminar is to be able to recognise, understand and process the influences of a self-sufficiency claim on the architectural form, the outer shell and the building technology of a building.
The seminar consists of two parts: At the beginning, several lectures will introduce the topic and individual techniques, in particular for renewable energy generation, will be dealt with in depth. Building on this, a concept for an office building that is as energy-self-sufficient as possible is developed in the second part.
After getting to know the interrelationships of a necessity, the design and the requirements in practice, it is conceivable to continue and build on the seminar in a subsequent design module.
