Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of sustainable and innovative building with Mycelium in the "MycelStructure" design. The design invites you to get to know the current research while designing a unique pavilion for the Federal Garden Show 2025 that utilises the extraordinary properties and aesthetics of Mycelium. In the first phase until the Christmas break, we will explore the possibilities of Mycelium as a building material. Through lectures, examples and design ideas, you will gain a deep insight into the properties of the material, its ecological advantages and the basic techniques of its possible application. This will also serve as a basis for the design, which will be conceptualised before the Christmas break. After the Christmas break, a design is further developed and planned as a team through to the "realisation phase". Students are encouraged to think beyond conventional design boundaries and develop innovative concepts that optimise the potential of this sustainable material. Parallel to the design phase, students attend the compulsory Mycelpanel seminar. Here they deepen their understanding of mycelium facades, learn specific technical skills and produce prototypes. The course requires a high level of commitment, curiosity and creative energy. Participants should have a passion for new materials and a certain level of manual dexterity. The willingness to experiment and embrace the unknown is invaluable as the course is deliberately focussed on innovation and broadening design horizons.
